My work begins with a persistent question: What new meanings emerge when inherited visual vocabularies are displaced from the systems that originally gave them meaning? Rather than inventing new symbols, I translate inherited visual vocabularies—flags, heraldry, diagrams, logos, and ornamental forms—through printmaking, cutting, and collage. Displacement is not an act of removal but a method of inquiry, allowing familiar forms to shed their original functions while carrying traces of cultural memory into new visual relationships.
As images, symbols, and cultural traditions increasingly circulate beyond the systems that once defined them, my work slows that movement into a material process of transformation. I am interested in the persistence of visual language—how forms retain traces of cultural memory even as their meanings evolve. The work invites viewers to encounter familiar symbols not as fixed signs, but as evolving structures shaped by memory, context, and interpretation
